  1. EVENT INTRODUCTION


    BACKGROUND

    Kuala Lumpur International Earth Day Run started in 2013 by Asia World Events to

    celebrate Earth Day which is held annually on 22nd April in 192 countries to demonstrate global support for environmental protection. The global theme for 2016 is Trees for the Earth.  This green campaign is to help combat climate change. By planting more trees, cities around the world will have a higher level of oxygen in the air, thus helping us to breathe clean air. Not only does trees give us clean air, it helps build communities achieve long-term economic and environmental sustainability and provide food, energy and income.


    SAFEGUARDING OUR FUTURE

    Earth Day Run 2016 (EDR 2016) is about encouraging all Malaysians to lead a healthy lifestyle, encouraging positive actions and supporting a Green KL City, promoting sustainability in business practices, supporting inclusive sustainable development goals, highlighting climate change issues and environmental care for future generations.

    EDR 2016 invite Runners of all abilities and background (13-year old & above) for a fun 10km Run in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, and be part of an important global movement to appreciate and to support our natural environment against the growing threat of global warming. Rules 
 1.      The KL International Earth Day Run 2016 will be held on Sunday, 24 April 2016 at Padang Merbok, Jalan Parlimen, Kuala Lumpur. 
 2.      The Run shall be conducted under the rules of Malaysian Athletics Federation(MAF) as well as a set of competition rules. The Organiser reserves the right to modify or substitute any of these Rules and Regulations of the Event from time to time as they deem fit. If there is ambiguity in any of the provisions, the Organiser shall be the authority to interpret the rules.  Any updates on the Rules and Regulations of the Event will be notified on the official Event’s website, www.earthdaymalaysia.com. It is the responsibility of Participant to keep abreast with any changes. 
 3.      The Run is open for participation by Malaysian citizens and Permanent Residents of Malaysia. 
 4.      Categories C and D are open to local and foreign students enrolled in secondary schools in Malaysia. A copy of their passport, visa or other valid travel documents must be attached with the entry forms. Entry forms of foreign students must be stamped & signed by their respective school heads to confirm their student status. 
 5.      Category G, Corporate / Team: Open to all staff or agents of private or public sector organizations. The number of runners in a team is 5.  Foreign staff/ agents may run in their Company’s / Organization’s Team. 
 6.      The age of participants shall be calculated as at 31 December 2016. Participants below 18 years of age require consent of parents/ guardians on the official entry forms. 
 7.      Age Verification. All prize money/ medal winners must produce their identity card/ birth certificate/ passport or other documents incuding details of Permanent Resident ( where aplicable ) for their age verification to the presiding technical officials upon request. 
 8.      There will be no refund of entry fees, if the event is cancelled for reasons of force majeure i.e. due to occurrence of incidents beyond the control of the organizers which renders it impossible or unsafe to hold the event. 
 9.      There will be no refund for wrongful or multiple entries. Substitution or changing of categories is NOT allowed. Please ensure that you select the right category you are eligible to participate in accordance with your age qualification. 
 10.    If a participant who has registered chooses to withdraw for any reasons, his/ her entry fees will not be refunded. 
 11.    Prizes in the form of cash money, medals, and hampers will be presented depending on the categories. Please refer to the prize list below. 
 12.    Medals will be given to the first 100 winners of each category. Certificates of participation will be given to all those who complete the run at the finish line. 
 13.    All participants must wear the Run t-shirts provided by the Organizer during the Run as well as during the prize giving ceremony at the podium. Prizes from the 1st to 5th placing will be presented at the podium. 
 14.    The Run will start and end at Padang Merbok. 
 15.    Only one piece of runner bib will be given to each participant, to be pinned on their chest.

During the Event

1.      While the organizers will undertake all safety precautionary measures for the safety of participants during the event, all participants take part in this run at their own risk. The Organizer, Asia World Events ( Asia We ( M) Sdn. Bhd.)  and FTKLAAA will not be in any way responsible for any injuries, death or for any loss of their personal belongings during or after the Run. 
 2.      Water stations will be available along the route. 
 3.      Timing for this run will be done manually. 
 4.      In case of emergencies, ambulances/ doctors/ first aid workers will on be standby for participants seeking first aid treatment. 
 5.      All participants must report their attendance to the reporting officials by submitting the reporting cards. The reporting time will be from 6.00 am. The reporting cards will also be used for balloting lucky draw winners during the prizes presentation. 
 6.      A special area will be provided for baggage safe keeping. Please ensure that there are no cash or valuables are kept in your luggage while it is safe keeping. The organizers will not be responsible for any missing items. 
 7.      Lucky draws will be conducted throughout the morning after the race. Please keep your runner number tags to qualify for these draws. 
 8.      Plants will be given to categories A, B, E, F, and G
